Summary

Atami Energy’s vision is to usher a bright, safe, scalable and renewable future in which Uganda’s energy is powered by clean and renewable sources! Orijtech Energy implemented a remote monitoring solution for their solar equipment that provides the much needed visibility to save costs in field visits, perform pre-emptive maintenance for better service delivery, and also determine the overall performance (both technical and monetary) of their systems for their customers! Orijtech Energy’s work ushers in a new wave of observability and visibility into Atami’s commercial solar systems, providing capabilities to even remotely turn off systems if need be!

Motivation:

Before this subject program, Atami Energy was faced with a pain-point of no visibility/observability into the solar systems that they commercially sold and deployed for their customers. Visibility essentially means being able to remotely access data from their solar systems without making a physical visit into the field to examine the equipment. Visibility in this case is primarily based on the three key metrics:

It is very important to closely monitor all three metrics as any mal-operation can lead to damage of the solar system. The third metric is especially important in ensuring that customers fully utilise all available solar energy and associated savings.

Challenges for Atami Energy:

The absence of system visibility presented the following challenges for Atami Energy:
